It was a tough year for the hard working boys and girls of Park City basketball. The boys ended the season with only two wins out of 21 games, and girls only one.

The school had high hopes in the basketball team this year, especially with the anticipation of the new coaches. Jim Boyce, his second year coaching the boys basketball team, certainly had high hopes for this year’s squad. The boys made the playoffs for the first time in seven years last year and a disappointing season like this does not help. Sam White, the new girls basketball coach also had high hopes for the success for this team.

Despite the disappointing season, many individual players played an all-state caliber. For the boys, Tony Epperson led the team in points with 11.19 PPG (points per game), and Hayden Holbrook with 9.3 PPG. For the girls, a sophomore point guard Laura Kasel led the team with 12.32 PPG.

Park City basketball still has glowing optimism for the upcoming seasons. White was available to reflect on this year's record, expressing his pride in the players.

"I thought the record did not truly represent the ability and the talent of the 08-09 team."

Despite the record, senior team captain, Kristen Kaps said, "Sam is a positive coach, and he really made it fun this year."

The boys freshman team was undefeated this year and the Varsity team this year had both a freshman and a sophomore start for them. For girls, young Kasel will only keep her talent and hopefully develop it further, and hopefully help guide the team with to a better year
