Park City golf takes another swing towards state

Miners dominate the field in their latest debut

GLENDALE- The ball seems to be finding the hole very well for the miners. The Park City Golf Team won another match on Thursday the 25th. This win will send them to state at Soldier Hollow on October 8 and 9, and hopefully resulting in another win.

The four top players that made up the over all score were: Sam Bell with 69 strokes, Zac Fear with 71 strokes, Michael Coopman with 75 strokes, and Jack Burrus with 78 strokes.

Sam Bell, the top scorer and one arguably the strongest player so far, commented on the team’s success.

“We have a great time together,” Sam said. “We worked hard all week, and feel solid as a team: but we still have fun.”

Park City defeated Uintah by 4 strokes, with a total of 293. Wasatch then came in 3rd, and Judge came in forth. The match was the best score for the Miners thus far in the 2008 season.

The overall score was a dazzling five over par, and six of our eight players medaled. Sam Bell dominated the game finishing in 1st place.

“They have improved every golf game.” said George Murphy, head coach of the team.
And it is true. Park City’s score has consistently improved since their first outing at Dinoland.

Hopefully the miners can hold their focus and accuracy all the way to the state championships.
