The first week of September brought the art teachers Mrs. Galusha and Mr. Flicker new, long awaited classrooms.
The brand new spaces include large windows, expanded workspace, much-need storage space and an outside deck.
Before, students had to be very careful with materials, and often couldn’t fully express their creativity from missing materials, lack of space, or the fact that they couldn’t make too much of a mess.
Now, there will be no more stresses about painted tables, or clay in the carpet.
Both Galusha and Flicker have expressed their excitement, and students also look forward to creating in an adequate environment. Jewelry making student Katherine Paterson explained how the temporary rooms were, “small, cramped and ineffective,” but “the new rooms are beautiful”.
The drama department also is excited about the expanded Black Box Theater, with increased acting space and overhead runways.
The never-ending construction process PCHS that has been going through for the past four years left these completed classrooms last, causing frustrations. But they are finally done, and everyone is relieved and eager to use them.
