Park City- On March 2nd, the boys' tennis team hosted their tryouts. Nearly 40 boys, ranging from freshmen to seniors, attended the first day of workouts at Treasure Mountain International School.
The tryout consisted of a variety of activities that tested the boys ability not only to play tennis, but also to their athletic ability as a whole. Three rotations of tennis, basketball, and weights, were used to test the boys talent and skill on the first day. The last three days were both tennis and other workouts to determine who would make the final cut.
Scooter Mastain, the head coach of the boys' high school team appointed four days of tryouts in order to decide his final team of 21. Unfortunatly, this meant that almost half of these determined tennis players would be unable to make the cut. Instead, they will be given the opportunity to play in a developmental team that will help them work on skills and prepare them for the high school tennis in the coming years.
Over the next few weeks, head coach Scooter Mastain will be working out the complete varsity team and the top seven positions. The team will continually play challange matches to determine their place on the ladder.
The boys' first match will take place on Tuesday, March 10th against Timpview. They will begin play at 3:15 at Timpview.
